Red Hot Bucs Remain Top Team in NJCAA Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Winners of 21 straight games, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers held onto the top spot in the week 12 NJCAA Top 20 Rankings released on Monday by the NJCAA National Office.
The Bucs cruised to another 4-0 week last week, finishing off their first perfect Suncoast Conference schedule in program history at 19-0 and moving their overall record to 38-3 on the year. FSW handled Hillsborough Tuesday in a 12-5, 7-1 doubleheader sweep, clinching their fifth straight conference title. Friday they put it on St. Petersburg 14-0 in game one of the twinbill before hanging on for an 8-6 win in the second game.
The week 12 poll stayed mostly intact from a week ago with each of the top six teams, including the Bucs holding their spot. Vernon dropped out of the top 10 with everyone below them pushing up one this week.
The Bucs will get a good tune-up Thursday before the FCSAA State Tournament as they make the trek across the state to take on #10 Indian River in a doubleheader beginning at 2 PM in Fort Pierce.
