Freshman (2020): Melendez played in 16 games as a freshman for the Bucs before their season was cut short due to Covid-19. He started his collegiate career with a bang, quite literally, homering in his first at bat as the Bucs took on State College Florida in the Atlanta Braves' CoolToday Park. He finished the year hitting .262 with 4 doubles, the afformentioned home run, and 4 RBIs. He also threw out 3 runners on the bases behind the plate.
High School: Melendez came to FSW from Cidra, Puerto Rico where he prepped at Academia Cristiana Elohim. As a senior, he hit .300 with 2 home runs and 26 RBIs.

The #11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers earned their first postseason win in program history on Wednesday, coming from behind for a 12-7 victory over Indian River in the opening game of the 2021 FCSAA State Tournament.
The champs have defended their crown. Friday afternoon on the road in Clearwater, the #12 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers knocked off the St. Petersburg Titans by a count of 10-5, in the process, laying claim to their second straight Suncoast Conference Championship.
