CHARLOTTE, N.C.- It was a rough week for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers last week and they paid for it in the NJCAA National Rankings released on Monday, tumbling six spots to #15 in the week seven poll.
FSW went 0-3 last week, losing 10-5 to Polk State before dropping a pair of one run contests to Hillsborough to fall to 33-13 on the year. The good news for the Bucs though, is that thanks to some help in the conference, they remain in first place in the league standings at 14-6, one game in front of State College of Florida and two in front of third place Polk State with 10 games to go.
Midland was the only newcomer to the Top 20, but the other 19 were thrown in a blender and repositioned this week. Wabash Valley, Walters State, San Jacinto, Central Arizona, and Crowder made up the week seven Top 5 while Eastern Oklahoma jumped six spots into the Top 10 and was joined by Chattahoochee Valley right behind them at #10. The Bucs are one of just three FCSAA teams in the poll this week, joined by Chipola at #10 and Santa Fe at #13. A recent cold streak sent Central Florida from #13 last week, to completely out of the week seven rankings.
The Bucs are back in action today as they take on Hillsborough in Tampa to wrap up the two teams' three game set.
