FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State coaching staff may look a little smaller the next time you see them at City of Palms Park as Tuesday, Bucs Head Coach Ben Bizier announced that volunteer assistants Rayden Sierra and Alex Balter have accepted full time positions with the Minnesota Twins and Perfect Game.
Sierra will begin his professional coaching career as the Assistant Hitting Coach for the Fort Myers Mighty Muscles, the Low A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. Sierra was in his first season with the Bucs in 2021 and helped FSW to a 35-13 record while watching as nearly every FSW single season record has fallen, or is in danger of falling before season's end.
Balter will join Perfect Game, the most respected amateur baseball company in the world, as their Regional Staffing Manager. Balter spent parts of two seasons with the Bucs, watching as FSW went 51-24 during his time in Fort Myers. Working in a number of different areas for the Bucs, Balter has made major impacts with the offense and the catching corps in particular.
While selfishly disappointed to lose the pair, FSW Head Coach Ben Bizier had rave reviews of his two young assistants saying "We are very happy for both Ray and Alex. They both came in, worked extremely hard, and made us better as a program. They have both earned these opportunities and there is no doubt in my mind that they will continue to have positive impacts on whichever organizations they are working with. We thank them greatly for their time and effort with us."
After a win over South Florida State Wednesday afternoon, the Bucs sit at 35-13 overall and 16-6 in Suncoast Conference play where they will hold no less than a full two game lead at night's end.
The Bucs are back in action on Friday when they travel to Avon Park to take on the Panthers in game two of the three game set.
