Freshman (2021): Izarra transfers to FSW from the University of Miami where he saw action in 14 games as a freshman in 2021.  He picked up his first collegiate hit against FGCU in mid-March as well as driving in his first two runs against the Eagles in the Miami win.

Sometimes relief pitchers come in and get an out to get their team out of a jam, or sometimes they throw a scoreless inning to close out a win, and then there is what Grant Besser did for the #7 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers Monday afternoon in Downtown Fort Myers.  Besser entered early in what was shaping up to be a shootout between the Bucs and the State College of Florida Manatees and threw five innings of sparkling relief, allowing just one run to will FSW to a 9-6 win to clinch the series win and cut the Bucs magic number for their third straight Suncoast Conference Championship to just one.

No-Hit Through Five, Bucs Explode Late For 16-0 Win

Through five innings Friday afternoon in Tampa, the #8 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers offense couldn't have been much worse as they were staring a no-hitter in the eyes in their series finale against the Hillsborough Hakws.  Out of their first 15 outs, the Bucs had nine flyouts, five strikeouts, and one groundout, but that all changed in the 6th as FSW exploded for nine runs before putting up six more in the 7th to blow the Hawks out 16-0 for their second straight Suncoast Conference sweep.

Defensive Blunders Prove Costly For Bucs in Loss

Through seven innings, everything was going according to plan for the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers as they led the Pasco-Hernando State Bobcats 2-0 in their final non-conference game of the 2022 season.  From there thing went South though as the Bucs made three consecutive errors on the mound in the top of the 8th, leading to six Bobcat runs and the deficit proved too much as FSW got three back in the bottom of the frame, but eventually fell 6-5 to snap a three game winning streak.

The #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers moved to 3-0 on the season on a cold night in Downtown Fort Myers as newcomer Paxton Tomaini came through in the clutch twice, including a walk off single in the bottom of the 9th to cap a 3-2 come from behind win for the Bucs over Pasco Hernando at the Marissa Gusto Memorial Tournament.

Bucs Take Season Opener 9-3 Over ASA

The #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers won their  season opener 9-3 over ASA Miami Friday morning at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, overcoming a late 3-1 deficit with a four run 6th and a four run 7th to kick off the 2022 campaign.

A season after having more players drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft than any other NJCAA program in the country, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers seemed to have retooled just fine as Prep Baseball Report has 14 Bucs listed in their Juco Top 350 Prospects list, more than any other team in the state of Florida and the second most of any team in the country.
