Freshman (2021): Noriega played in 55 games as a freshman in 2021, hitting .250 with 5 home runs and 26 RBIs.  He was a threat on the bases for the Bucs as well, stealing 16 bases in 20 attempts and scoring 39 runs on the year.  He had eight multi-hit games on the year including a three hit contest late in the season against State College of Florida.  

High School: Noriega came to FSW after playing at Miami Senior High School where he hit .370 with three home runs and 18 RBIs as a senior while stealing 20 bases.  

Personal: Born April 10, 2000, he is the son of Maida Leal and Ernesto Noriega.

Bucs Upended To Force Deciding Game Three

The #8 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers scored three runs in the top of the 1st as the visiting team at home at City of Palms Park Saturday afternoon against the Indian River Pioneers in game two of the Fort Myers Regional portion of the FCSAA State Tournament, but they didn't score again as the Bucs went six innings without a hit after the hot start and watched as their lead disintegrated  in the 4th inning and the Pioneers took a lead they never relinquished in the 5th as Indian River took the game 4-3 to force a third and deciding game in the series.

The Suncoast Conference Champion Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were scattered all over the league’s All-Conference teams released on Monday as a conference high 13 Bucs earned honors led by Magnus Ellerts who was named the Suncoast Conference Pitcher of the Year and Brian Holiday who was tabbed the conference’s Fireman of the Year.

Bucs Bash Titans to Sweep Season Series

The #11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back Friday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, using a strong pitching effort from Magnus Ellerts and a 13 hit attack from the offense for a 12-3 win to finish a seven game season sweep of the St. Petersburg Titans.

Behind an outstanding effort out of the bullpen from Brian Holiday and clutch late RBI double from Simon Baumer, the #11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers claimed their third consecutive Suncoast Conference Championship Wednesday night on the road in Winter Haven, hanging on for a 2-1 win over the Polk State Eagles to start the celebration and send themselves into the postseason on a high note.

Besser Deals Bucs to Series Clinching Win

Sometimes relief pitchers come in and get an out to get their team out of a jam, or sometimes they throw a scoreless inning to close out a win, and then there is what Grant Besser did for the #7 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers Monday afternoon in Downtown Fort Myers.  Besser entered early in what was shaping up to be a shootout between the Bucs and the State College of Florida Manatees and threw five innings of sparkling relief, allowing just one run to will FSW to a 9-6 win to clinch the series win and cut the Bucs magic number for their third straight Suncoast Conference Championship to just one.

No-Hit Through Five, Bucs Explode Late For 16-0 Win

Through five innings Friday afternoon in Tampa, the #8 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers offense couldn't have been much worse as they were staring a no-hitter in the eyes in their series finale against the Hillsborough Hakws.  Out of their first 15 outs, the Bucs had nine flyouts, five strikeouts, and one groundout, but that all changed in the 6th as FSW exploded for nine runs before putting up six more in the 7th to blow the Hawks out 16-0 for their second straight Suncoast Conference sweep.

The #16 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers scored eight unanswered runs in the middle innings to come from behind and defeat the State College of Florida Manatees 11-6 Monday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers.  The win is the 10th straight for FSW and clinches their third consecutive Suncoast Conference series victory.

The #18 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers finished off their first Suncoast Conference series sweep of what they hope to be many this season, Monday afternoon in Clearwater, hammering the St. Petersburg Titans 10-2 behind five no-hit innings from Frank Elissalt and a 15 hit attack from the offense to improve to 4-2 in conference play on the season.

Defensive Blunders Prove Costly For Bucs in Loss

Through seven innings, everything was going according to plan for the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers as they led the Pasco-Hernando State Bobcats 2-0 in their final non-conference game of the 2022 season.  From there thing went South though as the Bucs made three consecutive errors on the mound in the top of the 8th, leading to six Bobcat runs and the deficit proved too much as FSW got three back in the bottom of the frame, but eventually fell 6-5 to snap a three game winning streak.

Bucs Break Out Against Silver Storm

After dropping three straight games by a total of four runs, the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers took out their frustrations on the ASA Miami Silver Storm Friday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, ripping the ASA pitching staff for 30 runs in a doubleheader to sweep the Silver Storm 17-7 and 13-8 to improve to 10-8 on the year.

Defense Lets Bucs Down in First Loss of the Season

In their first 10 games of the season, the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers committed just seven errors as a team, going a perfect 10-0 in those contests.  Friday night in their 11th game of the year, they committed nearly the same amount, racking up six blunders on the defensive end, ultimately costing them their first loss of the season in a 7-6 defeat to the Gulf Coast State Commodores in their first of four games in Palatka this weekend.

Pitching/Clutch Hitting Gives #15 FSW Berth in Championship Game

The #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers stormed their way into Sunday's Championship game at the 2022 Perfect Game Juco Classic in Panama City, thumping #18 Florence-Darlington Tech 8-2 in their quarterfinal matchup Saturday morning and Wallace State 5-2 Saturday night to advance to the title game.

Champs! Winland Leads Bucs Past Raiders in Tourney Title Game

Paul Winland crushed two home runs and Holden Wade locked down the final six outs as the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers held on for an 8-7 win over the Northwest Florida State Raiders to claim the inaugural championship trophy in the Perfect Game Juco Classic Tournament in Panama City Sunday afternoon.

Down to their final out in their first round game of the 2022 Perfect Game Juco Classic, the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers drew a bases loaded walk to stay alive and then got a three run bomb from Paxton Tomaini in extra innings to defeat Chattahoochee Valley 8-6 to advance to the tournament's quarterfinal round Saturday.

Bucs Sink Sharks in Marquee Matchup

The best was saved for the last at the Marissa Gusto Memorial Tournament at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers as the 3-0 and 15th ranked Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers squared off against the 2-0 and 8th ranked Miami Dade Sharks Sunday afternoon. The Bucs jumped in front early, scoring in four of the first five innings to get out to a 6-1 lead, but had to hang on late for an 8-7 win to finish the weekend undefeated.

14 Bucs Named to PBR Top Prospects List

A season after having more players drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft than any other NJCAA program in the country, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers seemed to have retooled just fine as Prep Baseball Report has 14 Bucs listed in their Juco Top 350 Prospects list, more than any other team in the state of Florida and the second most of any team in the country.
