CHARLOTTE, N.C.- It was #7 in week 7 for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers as the NJCAA Baseball National Rankings were released Monday. The Bucs moved up another spot to #7 in the poll after winning 20 of their last 21 ballgames.
Before dropping a game to #19 Miami Dade Monday afternoon, the Bucs were 32-13 at the time of the poll release, going 20-1 since early March. FSW has taken complete control of the Suncoast Conference standings where they sit 18-3 on their bye week, 4 ½ games ahead of the pack. The Bucs went a perfect 4-0 last week, sweeping a three game road series against Hillsborough in Tampa before manhandling Elev8 Academy 15-0 on Saturday.
There was quite a bit of shuffling in the top 10 of the week seven poll as Walters State takes back over at #1 with Central Arizona, Wabash Valley, Chipola, and Crowder filling out the top five behind them. The Bucs were one of four FCSAA squads in the poll as each of the state's conference leaders were ranked in the top 20. The Panhandle leading Chipola Indians checked in at #4 with the Suncoast leading Bucs at #7, the Southern leading Miami Dade Sharks at #16, and the Mid-Florida leading Central Florida Patriots back in the poll at #19.
Bucs fans will have two more chances to see them play at home this week as they host ASA Miami Wednesday at 3 PM before jumping back into Suncoast Conference play against State College of Florida Friday at 3 PM at City of Palms Park.
