FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern infielder Cooper Clapp will be reuniting with Bucs teammate Landen Burch at the next level as the left handed slugger has signed his National Letter of Intent to play at Middle Tennessee State University next season, giving FSW a program record 12th Division I signee from their 2024 class.
Clapp had a solid all-around freshman season for the Bucs in 2024, hitting .283 with 8 home runs and 38 RBIs on the year. He played in 57 games as a rookie, fielding .958 in 166 chances while playing in the middle of the diamond for the Bucs. Clapp put together his best stretch of the year in late March and into April when he strung together an 11 game hitting streak which included back to back three hit games against Daytona State and St. Petersburg. He homered eight times on the year including four times during the stretch, launching home runs in back to back games against Indian River and Daytona State in Bucs wins.
Clapp will join a Blue Raider program coming off of a 20-36 campaign in 2024. MTSU finished 8-16 in Conference USA action which was good enough to punch their ticket to the CUSA Championships in Ruston, Louisiana.
Clapp is the 12th Division I signee for the Bucs this season, setting a new program record, joining Justin Thomas (Arkansas), Landon O'Donnell (Florida State), Jared Davis (Virginia Tech), Victor Figueroa and Isaac Upole (Pittsburgh), Alex Walsh (Oklahoma State), Reyn Watson and Nate Earley (Appalachian State), Logan O'Leary (UNC-Charlotte), Luca Danos (Loyola Marymount), and Landen Burch who will join him at MTSU.
