FORT MYERS, Fla.- Today we begin a month long series highlighting our Florida SouthWestern Athletics class of 2025 heading to the next level next season. We begin today with FSW shortstop Luke Orfi who will be headed to Texas Tech University to play for the Red Raiders in 2026.
Orfi was a 2nd Team All-Conference pick for the Bucs in his lone season in Fort Myers. He hit .341 with 12 doubles, 6 home runs and 42 RBIs while stealing a program record 45 bases on the year. He played in 59 games, racking up 74 hits and scoring 54 runs. Orfi came up big down the stretch for the Bucs, recording hits in 7 of 9 postseason contests while stealing 12 bases and scoring 12 runs.
He will join a Red Raiders program that has made it to Omaha and the College World Series three times in the past 10 seasons. Orfi will try to get Texas Tech back to the postseason after the Red Raiders went just 20-33 this year and missed the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season after a stretch of seven straight years playing into June.
Orfi is one of six Bucs Baseball sophomores who have signed at the next level thus far, joining Abel Albarran (Middle Tennesse St.), Brock Knoerr (Western Kentucky), Andrew McLaughlin (South Carolina), Nik Pereira & Josiah Velazquez (Tampa).
