Florida SouthWestern sophomore Carlos Sanchez is on the move to the bayou after signing with the reigning NAIA National Champion LSU-Shreveport Pilots for the 2026 season.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern sophomore Carlos Sanchez is on the move to the bayou after signing with the reigning NAIA National Champion LSU-Shreveport Pilots for the 2026 season.
Sanchez had a big year for the Bucs this season, hitting .347 with 19 doubles, 7 home runs, and 60 RBIs while creating havoc on the bases with 41 stolen bases and 68 runs scored, both of which rank 2nd in single season program history. He was a 1st Team All-Citrus Conference selection and a 2nd Team All-FCSAA pick while earning MVP honors at the FCSAA Tournament where the Bucs punched their ticket to the Juco World Series for the first time in program history. He had 23 multi-hit games on the season including six game with three or more hits. He was locked in during the Bucs 2025 postseason run, recording a hit in all nine contests and going 5-8 in FSW's two games at the Juco World Series.
Sanchez will join an LSU-Shreveport program coming off of a historic campaign. The Pilots put together one of the most dominant seasons in college baseball history at any level in 2025, going a perfect 59-0 in route to the NAIA National Championship. They led the country in a number of different categories including team ERA (2.38) and fielding percentage (.982) while hitting .376 as a team which was 3rd best.
Sanchez is one 13 FSW sophomores who have signed at the next level thus far, joining Abel Albarran (Middle Tennessee St.), Luke Orfi (Texas Tech), Jake Mueller & Anthony Ruocco (UNC-Greensboro), Brock Knoerr (Western Kentucky), Nathan Fink (Sam Houston State), Beau Brailey (Campbell), Nik Pereira & Josiah Velazquez (Tampa), Devin Parks (Radford), Brandon Eldridge (Gardner Webb), and Brett Dennis (Rollins).
