Bobcats Best Bucs in Midweek Matchup
The #3 Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers fell flat Tuesday night on the road in New Port Richey, falling 11-3 to defending Division II National Champions Pasco-Hernando to fall to 11-4 on the year.
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla.- The #3 Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers fell flat Tuesday night on the road in New Port Richey, falling 11-3 to defending Division II National Champions Pasco-Hernando to fall to 11-4 on the year.
Things started on the wrong foot for the Bucs as two batters into the bottom of the 1st the Bobcats were already on the board and they would add another later in the inning to take a 2-0 lead after one.
Pasco added to their lead in the 3rd with two more to go ahead 4-0 before the Bucs second straight inning ending double play kept it that way after 3 1/2.
The Bucs finally got on the board in the 5th to cut the Pasco lead to 4-1, but the FSW pitching staff couldn't hold it there as back to back walks in front of a three run home run stretched the Bobcats lead back out to 8-1 at the end of five.
Paco added to their lead in the 6th without putting a single ball in play in the inning. A hit batter, a walk, two passed balls, and an FSW error allowed the Bobcats to score twice and extend their lead to 10-2.
Each team would get one more run before things wrapped up but it finished the way that it started with Pasco in complete control, taking it 11-3.
Jonah St. Antoine and Keenan Jabeth each had a pair of hits for the Bucs in the loss while Robert Mitchell suffered the loss on the mound, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs to fall to 2-1 on the year.
FSW drops their second straight to fall to 11-4 on the year while Pasco wins their fourth straight to improve to 10-6.
The Bucs are back in action at home on Thursday as they begin a three game Citrus Conference series against Polk State at 2 PM at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers.
