Bucs Back Up Into Top Five of NJCAA National Rankings
Following a perfect 4-0 week that included three run rule wins, the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers re-entered the top five of the NJCAA National Rankings on Monday.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Following a perfect 4-0 week that included three run rule wins, the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers re-entered the top five of the NJCAA National Rankings on Monday.
The Bucs checked in at #5, up one spot from last week after outscoring their opponents 49-6 in four wins. Tuesday they hammered DII #2 Pasco-Hernando 14-2 before extending their win streak to six with a dominating three game sweep over Eastern Florida, beating the Titans 14-2, 6-0, and 15-2 in the series.
FSW is now 23-6 overall on the year and leads the Citrus Conference with a 12-3 mark after five straight conference series wins to begin league play.
There was some shuffling in the top five with Johnson County and Chipola swapping spots at #1 and #2 and Midland, Blinn, and FSW all moving up one spot to round out the top five. Hutchinson surged up six spots into the top 10 and was this week's biggest riser while Wabash Valley took a tumble down seven spots to #17. The Bucs were one of four FCSAA teams in the poll this week including #2 Chipola, #14 Northwest Florida, and #23 State College of Florida.
Next up for the Bucs is a big three game Citrus Conference series against the aforementioned #23 State College of Florida Manatees beginning Thursday night in Bradenton before shifting to Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers for a 1 PM doubleheader Saturday.
