Bucs Stopper Signs With Racers
From one World Series program to another, Florida SouthWestern righthander Judd Hildreth has signed at Murray State University to pitch for the Racers in 2027.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- From one World Series program to another, Florida SouthWestern righthander Judd Hildreth has signed at Murray State University to pitch for the Racers in 2027.
Hildreth helped FSW to the Juco World Series as a freshman last year, throwing in nine contests for the Citrus Conference Champion Bucs. This year his role has taken a huge uptick as he has thrown in 14 games for the 9th ranked Bucs, posting a 4-1 record with a save while notching a team best 1.99 ERA. He has punched out 24 opposing hitters in 22 2/3 innings, with them hitting just .171 against him while posting a 1.06 WHIP in the process.
He heads to a Murray State program coming off of their best year in program history which saw them shock the college baseball world with a trip to the 2025 College World Series in Omaha. The Racers won the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament where they entered as the #4 seed in the Oxford Regional. They put the world on notice with a win over top seeded and host Ole Miss in their opening game before working their way through and defeating the Rebels on their home field to win the Regional and move on to the Supers. In the Super Regional round they went to Duke where they took two of three from the Blue Devils to punch their ticket to Omaha as just the fourth #4 seed in history to reach the College World Series.
Hildreth is one of four Bucs signed to play at the Division I level next season, joining Evan Taveras (Central Florida), Parker Burgess (College of Charleston), and Cole Greer (Tulane).
Hildreth and the Bucs are back in action on Thursday when they open a three game Citrus Conference series on the road in Clearwater against St. Petersburg.
