Bucs Up One In National Poll
A Citrus Conference series win over St. Petersburg this week was enough to boost the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers one spot in the week seven NJCAA National rankings as the Bucs jumped to #8 with their 29-10 record on the year.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- A Citrus Conference series win over St. Petersburg this week was enough to boost the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers one spot in the week seven NJCAA National rankings as the Bucs jumped to #8 with their 29-10 record on the year.
The Bucs started the week with a 9-6 win over St. Petersburg on Friday. After jumping out to an early 5-0 lead Thursday the Bucs went back up to Clearwater to finish the game one day later to claim game one of the series. The Bucs clinched the series in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday, taking a 9-3 decision before watching a 5-0 lead disappear in game two of the twinbill to fall 7-6 and end the week at 29-10 overall.
Johnson County in Kansas is the unanimous #1 team in week seven followed by Midland, Chipola, Gaston, and Cloud County to round out the top five. Along with Chipola (#3), FSW (#8), and Central Florida (#20), and Northwest Florida ( 22-14) from the Sunshine State, Gulf Coast joins the week seven rankings at #23.
FSW is set for a Top 25 battle this weekend as they take on #20 Central Florida Thursday in Ocala before playing a doubleheader against the Patriots Saturday at 1 PM at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers.
