Bio

Freshman (2019-2020): Sylla drew 10 starts and played in 26 games for the Bucs during his freshman campaign.  He averaged 3.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while blocking just under a shot a game for the Bucs.  He shot 64% from the field, which ranked 3rd in program history for single season shooting percentage. He had a pair of double-doubles during his rookie season, going for 10 points and 11 rebounds early in the year against Miami Triple Threat and then a career high 12 points and 11 rebounds later on against Combine Academy. 

Personal: Born May 14, 1999, he is the son of Ibrahima Sylla.  He has three siblings, Aicha, Djibril, and Aboubacar.

Oquendo Goes Off For 31 to Lead Bucs Over #16 Indian River in Top 20 Matchup

Florida SouthWestern State freshman Kario Oquendo is starting to come into his own.  The former ESPN Top 100 recruit put on a show for Bucs fans Saturday afternoon when FSW most needed him, scoring 31 points as the Bucs held off a late charge from #16 Indian River for their second Southern Conference win of the season.

Big First Half Propels #15 FSW Over Tigers

The #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers found their footing offensively Wednesday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, shooting a blazing 61% from the field in the first half and scoring a season high 97 points in route to a 97-66 blowout of Central Pointe Prep Academy.

Big Second Half Propels #7 FSW Over Eastern in Road Test

It took the #7 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers a little while to get going Wednesday night on the road in Melbourne, but once they did, there wasn't much that Eastern Florida State could do to slow them down as the Bucs lit up the scoreboard for 46 second half points to run away with a 74-53 win over the Titans in non-conference action.

Bucs Shake Off Slow Start For Opening Night Win

After losing nine players to the NCAA Division I level from a season ago, there was no doubt that things would look a little bit different for the 8th ranked Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers this season.  That played true opening night as the Bucs used a more physical style than in past seasons, erasing a two point halftime deficit to grind past visiting Hillsborough 76-71 in Suncoast Credit Union Arena Wednesday night.
