FORT MYERS, Fla.- The three time defending Suncoast Conference Champion Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have finalized their 2021 schedule which will look a little bit different this season for Bucs fans, as FSW makes a change to the Southern Conference and has also had their schedule reduced by 25% by the NJCAA for the upcoming season.
The Bucs will open their 2021 campaign 10 weeks later than usual on January 20th at home in Suncoast Credit Union Arena when they take on former Suncoast Conference rival Hillsborough in now, non-conference action. Three days later they will battle another familiar foe out of league play when they travel to Winter Haven to take on Polk State. January 27th the Bucs head to the Space Coast where they will lock horns with Eastern Florida State before returning home to close out the month on January 31st when they host Northwest Florida State as part of a men's/women's doubleheader against the Raiders.
After a pair of non-conference home dates to begin February, the Bucs will kick off a new era with their first Southern Conference contest on the road on February 10th when they travel to Lake Worth to take on Palm Beach State. FSW will see their first home conference action on February 13th when they host the defending conference champion Indian River State Pioneers in a noon tip from Suncoast Arena. A week later the Bucs will renew their rivalry with State College of Florida in a Saturday matinee battle and then begin the second round of conference play on February 27th when they host Palm Beach.
The Bucs will be road warriors in March as they play away from the friendly confines of Suncoast Arena six times including four times in seven days from March 13th to the 20th. In that stretch they will go to Bradenton to take on SCF before playing on the road Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday to play Hillsborough, Pasco-Hernando, and Palm Beach respectively. FSW does get two of their final three regular season games at home, hosting Indian River on March 24th and SCF on March 29th around a Saturday afternoon contest on the road at Miami Dade.
FSW Athletics and Bucs Basketball are looking forward to having fans back in Suncoast Credit Union Arena on game days this season. Things will look a little bit different with social distancing and mask regulations present, but the FSW faithful can make plans to be back on campus on January 20th when they Bucs open up their year against Hillsborough.
