CHARLOTTE, N.C.- A pair of Southern Conference victories last week gained the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers a pair of spots in the NJCAA National Rankings as Monday the Bucs moved up to #13 in the poll with their 6-1 start to the season.
The Bucs came alive on the offensive end last week, scoring 93 and 94 points in wins over Palm Beach and Indian River. Wednesday on the road against the Panthers, FSW shot 53% from the field and connected on 15 three pointers in a blowout win to open conference play. Saturday at home against #16 Indian River, the Bucs were in for a fight, but again were up for the task, shooting an even 50% from the floor while again lighting it up from downtown with 14 threes in a 94-87 victory.
South Plains continued to lead the way in the week four poll with Pearl River, Coffeyville, John A. Logan, and Odessa all moving up two spots in the top five to replace Tallahassee and Salt Lake who suffered big falls after their first losses of the season. Just three FCSAA squads were in the week four poll with Tallahassee at #7, FSW at #13 , and Gulf Coast at #17.
The Bucs take the court again on Wednesday when they travel across Alligator Alley to take on Miami Dade in Southern Conference action. They return home on Saturday to battle State College of Florida in a 2 PM tip from Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
