Bucs Go 2-0, Drop Three Spots in NJCAA Rankings
The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were left scratching their heads Monday afternoon as the NJCAA National Rankings came out. Inexplicably after soundly defeating a pair of NJCAA Region VIII foes over the week, the Bucs dropped three spots in the National Poll, falling to the final spot in the Top 25 of the week five rankings.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were left scratching their heads Monday afternoon as the NJCAA National Rankings came out. Inexplicably after soundly defeating a pair of NJCAA Region VIII foes over the week, the Bucs dropped three spots in the National Poll, falling to the final spot in the Top 25 of the week five rankings.
The Bucs improved to 8-2 on the year last week, defending their home court against Polk State and Daytona in a pair of inter-region contests. Tuesday they took care of the Eagles 84-73 while Saturday they put it on Daytona 77-60 for their eighth win of the year. The Bucs only two losses of the season have come to 10-1 Santa Fe and 8-1 Spartanburg Methodist.
The top five in the poll remained the same with Salt Lake at #1, Kilgore at #2, Chipola at #3, Hutchinson at #4, and John A. Logan at #5. Dodge City shot up 10 spots to #10 to enter the top 10 for the first time while Southeastern checked in behind them after a six spot jump. The Bucs are one of five Region VIII squads in the poll, joining Chipola at #3, Indian River at #6, Northwest Florida at #8, and Santa Fe at #18.
The Bucs are back in action this weekend when they travel to Panama City to take part in the Gulf Coast Classic, batting South Georgia Tech Friday at 5 PM before dancing with the host Commodores Saturday night at 5.
