FSW Ascends to #12 in National Rankings
For the fifth consecutive week the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers moved up in the NJCAA National Rankings, climbing to #12 this week after a pair of quality wins over Southern Conference opponents.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- For the fifth consecutive week the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers moved up in the NJCAA National Rankings, climbing to #12 this week after a pair of quality wins over Southern Conference opponents.
FSW has won 11 straight dating all the way back to November 20th, defeating opponents in a number of different ways along the way. Last week the Bucs used a potent offensive attack on Monday for a 90-66 win over Hillsborough and followed that up with a stiff defensive effort Wednesday against State College of Florida, holding the Manatees to just 34% shooting in a 70-61 FSW win. The Bucs are 16-2 overall on the year and a perfect 3-0 in Southern Conference play thus far.
Salt Lake remains the lone unbeaten team in the Division I ranks, earning all 16 first place votes again this week for the top spot while the other four spots in the top five saw some shuffling with Kilgore and Indian River bumping up two spots each and Northwest Florida and John A. Logan losing footing to #4 and #5. The Bucs were one of just three FCSAA squads in the Top 25 this week, as they were joined by #4 Northwest Florida and #9 Chipola.
The Bucs have a big week on tap as first they have a road date at Hillsborough in Tampa on Wednesday before returning home for a huge Southern Conference battle with #3 Indian River Saturday at 2 PM in Suncoast Arena.
