CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Losing their first game in 70 days cost the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers in the NJCAA National Poll this week as the Bucs dropped from #12 to #16 in the week 11 rankings.
The Bucs played a pair of overtime contests last week, first outlasting Hillsborough on the road 93-90 before dropping an 83-78 heartbreaker at home to #3 Indian River on Saturday. FSW moved to 17-3 on the year with the results.
The week 11 poll featured 24 of the 25 teams from the week 10 poll, but with conference races heating up and marquee matchups on the table, there was some shuffling. Salt Lake was again the unanimous #1 with Indian River, Northwest Florida, and John A. Logan all moving up a spot in the top five and Kilgore sliding down three spots to round out the top five. Along with Indian River at #2, Northwest Florida at #3, the Bucs at #16, and Chipola at #9 gave the FCSAA four squads in the top 20 this week.
The Bucs have a pair of Southern Conference matchups on tap this week as first they travel to Miami Dade on Wednesday for a 7:30 tip before returning home on Saturday to host State College of Florida in a 4 PM start from Suncoast Arena.
