FSW Soars Back Into Nation's Top 10
Winners of 14 of their last 15 games, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers soared back into the Top 10 of the NJCAA Rankings on Monday, jumping up six spots from #16 to #10 with their 19-3 record this season.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Winners of 14 of their last 15 games, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers soared back into the Top 10 of the NJCAA Rankings on Monday, jumping up six spots from #16 to #10 with their 19-3 record this season.
The Bucs picked up two more wins this week to improve to 19-3 overall and 6-1 in Southern Conference play on the season. Wednesday they went on the road and cooled down a hot Miami Dade team on their home floor, bouncing the Sharks 70-54. Saturday they put the hammer down on State College of Florida, blowing past the century mark for a 107-69 win over the Manatees.
The top five teams in the week 12 poll remained the same with Salt Lake, Indian River, Northwest Florida, John A. Logan, and Kilgore holding down the top five spots, but after that, it was a complete reshuffling for the top teams. FSW's six spot jump was the highest this week with Southern Idaho's tumble from #9 to #23 was the biggest hit to any of the Top 25 clubs. The Bucs were one of four FCSAA squads in the poll this week, led by Indian River at #2, Northwest Florida at #3 and followed by Chipola at #13.
The rise in the rankings for the Bucs means that tonight's showdown in Fort Pierce turns into a Top 10 battle as #10 FSW takes on #2 Indian River in a huge Southern Conference matchup for the two sides.
