*Honorable Mention All-Southern Conference (2022)

Freshman (2021-2022): Mitchell played in all 30 games for the Bucs as a freshman, drawing 17 starts at the point. He was an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection, averaging 7.7 points and 5.6 assists per game for FSW.  He scored in double figures 11 times on the year including a career high 15 against the 212 Academic to begin the New Year while he dished out double digit assists on four occasions including setting a new school record with 17 dimes in a win over Pasco-Hernando to close out the regular season. 

High School: Mitchell joined the Bucs from West Memphis High School in Arkansas where he was a McDonald's All-American nominee and a two time All-State award winner, averaging 14 points and 8 assists per game over his high school career.  As a junior he led his team to a 29-4 record and a State Championship averaging 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists per game while shooting 58% from the field.  

Personal: Born August 28, 2003, he is the son of Jerome and Atondra Mitchell.  He has two sisters, Londynn (9) and Kaliyah (20), and two brothers, Channing (23) and Ashton (24).

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers became the latest victim to a helter skelter Indian River defense in Fort Pierce, as after the Pioneers forced 64 turnovers in their previous two games, the Bucs gave it away 28 times Wednesday in an 85-75 loss in Southern Conference action.

The #20 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have been unbeatable this season at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, going a perfect 10-0 at home, but their struggles on the road continued on Saturday as they shot just 37% from the field and turned the ball over 17 times in a 65-64 loss to the Hillsborough Hawks to fall to 3-4 in true road games in 2022-2023.

#22 FSW Dominates SCF In Wire to Wire Win

The #22 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers hit a three on their first possession to take an early lead and never looked back Saturday afternoon in Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, hammering the visiting State College of Florida Manatees 107-80 for their 20th consecutive victory over their rivals from Bradenton.

Bucs Explode Late For 10th Win

For 30 minutes Monday night, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers looked like they hadn't played a game in nearly three weeks, which they hadn't.  For the final 10, they looked like the team that earned their way back into the NJCAA Top 25 this week, putting up 42 points to run away with a 92-59 win over South Georgia Tech to improve to 10-4 on the season with one final non-conference tuneup on tap Tuesday afternoon.

FSW Hangs On Late For Win at Polk

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers got the Polk State Eagles best effort Thursday night on the road in Winter Haven, but it wasn't enough as FSW hung on late for a 83-77 win to close the first half of the 2022-2023 schedule 9-4.

Bucs Topple Titans In Florida Juco Shootout

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers went on the road to Melbourne and the Florida Juco Shootout and drilled the host Eastern Florida State Titans 82-61 Saturday night, getting 20 points from Bradley Douglas and an eighth straight double-double from Tyson Brown in their seventh consecutive victory.

Florida Coastal No Match For High Powered Bucs

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers shot 67% from the field and put up a season high 126 points Tuesday night in a 126-36 bludgeoning of the visiting Florida Coastal Prep Spartans in non-conference action in Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

High Flying Bucs Put On A Show Against Gulf Coast

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers put on a show Saturday in front of their home crowd, routing the visiting Gulf Coast State Commodores 94-71 for their fifth straight victory. The Bucs shot 61% in the second half, featuring 11 high flying dunks for FSW.  Jemal Davis scored a career high 23 and Tyson Brown posted his sixth straight double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds in the win.

The Florida SouthWestern State Men’s Basketball team has high expectations for the 2022-2023 season and apparently the rest of the country agrees as the Buccaneers will start the season ranked #2 in the NJCAA Preseason National Rankings released on Monday by the National Office.
