FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern big man Chol Machot is taking his talents to the Division I level after signing with the College of Charleston where he will join the Cougars with three years left to play.
Machot was a 1st Team All-Citrus Conference selection for the Bucs this season, averaging 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 60% from the field. He scored in double figures 15 times this season for FSW including seven straight in Citrus Conference play to close out the month of February and begin March. He finished that stretch with a career high 29 point performance against #10 Daytona State in which he went 11-14 from the field and also hit on 3 of 4 from the three point line to eventually earn FCSAA Player of the Week honors. He also contributed in a big way on the defensive end of the floor for the Bucs, swatting away 70 shots to set a new FSW single season record.
Machot heads to historical Charleston, South Carolina to join a Cougars squad that was 24-9 overall a season ago while going 13-5 to finish third in the Colonial Athletic Association. It was the third straight 20 win season for Charleston who reached the NCAA Tournament in both the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 campaigns.
Machot is one of three players off the Bucs 2024-2025 squad who have signed at the Division I level thus far, joining Jafeth Martinez (USC Upstate) and K'jei Parker (UMass).
