Pair of Former Bucs Set to Compete in NBA Summer League
After sharing the Bucs backcourt for two seasons, former Florida SouthWestern teammates Terry Roberts and Jaden Campbell will be sharing a different court this July as the pair will be squaring off in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
LAS VEGAS, Nev.- After sharing the Bucs backcourt for two seasons, former Florida SouthWestern teammates Terry Roberts and Jaden Campbell will be sharing a different court this July as the pair will be squaring off in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
Roberts will be suiting up for the Brooklyn Nets Summer League squad after playing for their G-League team the past two seasons. In 31 games for the Long Island Nets last season, Roberts averaged 6.7 points and 5.2 assists per game while playing 25 minutes a night. The highlight of his second season with the Nets came when he posted a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists against the Westchester Knicks.
Roberts was a two-time All-Conference selection for the Bucs in 2020 and 2021. He had a breakout sophomore campaign, putting up a team high 15.0 points per game while also dishing out 5.7 assists a night and pulling down 4.8 rebounds. He scored in double figures in 20 of 23 games for the Bucs as a sophomore including a career high 35 point effort in a win over Hillsborough.
Campbell made the New York Knicks Summer League roster after playing professionally in both Canada and the Czech Republic the past two seasons. With USK Praha in the Czech Republic last season, he put up 16.3 points per game while shooting 43% from the field while also pulling down over 3 rebounds per game and picking off a steal per night.
Like Roberts, Campbell made huge strides as a sophomore for the Bucs, earning 1st Team All-Suncoast Conference honors while putting up 13.7 points per game and shooting a blistering 52% from the field. He scored in double figured 17 times during his second season with the Bucs and five 20+ point scoring efforts.
Roberts and the Nets will begin their Summer League slate Thursday at 5:30 PM when they take on Oklahoma City while Campbell and the Knicks play Friday at 6:00 PM against the Pistons. The two will square off against each other next Tuesday, July 15th at 6:00 PM with Bucs fans interested in catching the action able to watch the game on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
