Bio

*3rd Team NJCAA All-American (2021)

*2nd Team NFCA All-American (2021)

*1st Team FCSAA All-State (2021)

*Suncoast Conference Player of the Year (2021)

*1st Team All-Suncoast Conference (2021)

Freshman* (2021): Poot had a monster second season for the Bucs in 2021, leading FSW to their first National Championship in program history while earning Suncoast Conference Player of the Year and both NJCAA and NFCA All-American honors.  She had 17 multi-hit games on the year and hit safely in 19 of the Bucs first 20 games of the season. Poot had 14 games with two or more RBIs including a six RBI game against Keiser in which she missed the cycle by only a single.  She finished the year hitting .399 with 17 home runs, 58 RBIs, 56 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases. Her 17 home runs in 2021 tied teammate Owen Bowers for the most in a single season in program history while her 23 career bombs put her just two short of a new all-time program record heading into 2022.

Freshman (2020): Poot played in all 25 games for the Bucs as a freshman in their Covid shortened 2020 season. She hit .446 and slugged .892 while ripping 7 doubles and a team high 6 home runs while driving in 34.  She had more multi-hit games (10) than games without a hit (7) as a rookie and also put together 10 different games with mutiple RBIs.  While she had lots of highlights to pick from during her freshman year, the shining moment(s) came on late February when she went 4-6 with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs in a split doubleheader for the Bucs, helping FSW take down Tallahassee and also defending National Champions Chipola at the Courtney Miller Invitational in Sanford.

High School: Poot hit .413 wth six home runs and 28 RBIs as a senior at Helen Parkhurst High School in the Netherlands.

Personal: Born November 28, 1999, Poot is the daughter of Daisy and Gerard Poot. She has one sister, Ismay (23) who played at Softball Gulf Coast State.

Vigna's Walk Off Home Run Caps Wild Late Game Comeback For FSW at National Tourney

Ahead of Thursday night's elimination bracket quarterfinal between the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers and the #2 Yavapai Roughriders, FSW Head Coach Robert Iamurri had a simple message for his team before they left the team hotel "It is going to be like a 10-8 game tonight, are we going to be the ones that have 10, or are we going to be the ones that have 8" the seventh year skipper said. The game didn't play out like Iamurri forecasted originally as it was a 3-2 game in favor of the Roughriders into the 6th but both teams found their swings and combined for seven runs in the inning to make it a 7-5 game with Yavapai on top.  The Roughriders got two more in the 7th and it looked like the Bucs, and Iamurri's prediction was going to come up short as FSW found themselves down 9-6 and down to their last out of the game, but a two run single from Pallas Potter and a dropped fly ball by Yavapai in the outfield allowed the Bucs to score the equalizer and send the game to extras.  After scoreless 8th and 9th frames from both sides, Iamurri's premonition came to fruition as Laura Vigna launched her first home run of the year deep and out to center to lead off the 10th to give FSW a 10-9 victory to push the Bucs onto the Final Four of the tournament Friday.

The #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers and the #11 Pensacola State Pirates planned on running into each other at the FCSAA State Tournament in Longwood this weekend, but the two didn't think it would be in an elimination game between the state's top two ranked teams.  That was the case though Sunday night under the lights as the Bucs and Pirates went blow for blow in a win or go home battle. Trailing 2-1 in the 6th inning, the Bucs plated a pair of runs to take a 3-2 lead and then staved off bases loaded rallies from Pensacola in both the 6th and 7th innings with Belle Sardja getting the biggest strikeout of her young career to end the ballgame and send the Bucs onto the NJCAA South Atlantic District B Championship Monday with a 3-2 win.
