CHARLOTTE, N.C.- A pair of losses last week dropped the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers two spots to #3 in the NJCAA National Rankings released on Monday.
The Bucs saw a pair of impressive streaks come to an end last week as #14 Indian River upended FSW twice to snap a 32 game winning streak for the Purple and Aqua and hand the Bucs their first conference loss since the 2019 season, ending a streak of 67 consecutive conference victories. Despite the setback, FSW still closed the week an impressive 43-5 on the season, with their .896 winning percentage the second best in the country.
The Bucs weren't the only team to change scenery in the week eight poll as just two of the Top 10 teams in the country held their spot from last week. Odessa takes over the #1 spot from the Bucs with Wallace State jumping four spots to #2. Walters State remained #4 while Grayson tumbled from #2 to #5. Three other FCSAA squads were ranked in the Top 10 with the Bucs including Northwest Florida at #6, Central Florida at #8, and Seminole State at #9. Indian River gained two places to #12 with their wins over the Bucs.
FSW will be in action one last time before the postseason begins as they take on South Florida State in a non-conference doubleheader Friday at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers on Sophomore Day at the park as the Bucs will recognize their 10 sophomores playing in their final home games in the Purple and Aqua in the twinbill.
