Bucs Top Week 7 National Poll
The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers topped the NJCAA National Rankings for the sixth straight week on Monday, checking in at #1 ahead of Region 8 rivals Northwest Florida and Indian River once again.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers topped the NJCAA National Rankings for the sixth straight week on Monday, checking in at #1 ahead of Region 8 rivals Northwest Florida and Indian River once again.
The Bucs had a busy schedule last week, playing six times in four days. FSW opened the week with a home sweep of Hillsborough, defeating the Hawks 6-2 and 9-0 for the program's 500th all-time win. Thursday they hit the road to Sanford where they saw their 10 game winning streak snapped with a 7-5 loss to #8 Seminole State before bouncing back to split with the Raiders with a 6-1 victory in game two. Friday they were back at it, playing a pair of one run games against #10 Daytona State, winning a 1-0 decision in the opener before dropping a 7-6 extra innings contest in game two for the split.
The Bucs are 37-3 on the year with 16 wins over ranked opponents including 10 over Top 10 foes.
There was little movement in the week seven poll with FSW, Northwest Florida, and Indian River continuing to lead the pack. The trio was three of nine FCSAA squads represented overall and six ranked inside the Top 10.
FSW is back in action on Tuesday in their third straight doubleheader against a Top 10 opponent when they host #3 Indian River in a matchup of the past four NJCAA National Champions at Buccaneers Park beginning at 1 PM.
