Bucs Stick at #2 After 4-0 Week
The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers stuck at #2 in the NJCAA Week Nine National Rankings released on Monday, marking the 95th consecutive week during the regular season the Bucs have been ranked inside the Top 5 of the National Rankings.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers stuck at #2 in the NJCAA Week Nine National Rankings released on Monday, marking the 95th consecutive week during the regular season the Bucs have been ranked inside the Top 5 of the National Rankings.
The Bucs rolled to four wins last week including a pair over #8 Miami Dade on Tuesday. The Bucs swept the Sharks in dominating fashion, taking game one 7-1 before winning game two 10-1 in run rule fashion. Thursday the Bucs followed it up by winning a pair over long time rival Central Florida at home at Buccaneers Park, taking a back and forth game one 10-8 and scoring eight unanswered in game two for a 10-4 win over the Patriots. The Bucs are now 43-5 on the year and lead the Citrus Conference with a 29-5 record with six games left to go.
The top five in the rankings remained unchanged this week with McLennan remaining on top followed by FSW, Indian River, Northwest Florida, and Grayson. Seminole State moved up a spot to #6 giving the FCSAA four of the top six teams in the poll and six of the top 11.
The Bucs return to action after a week long break on Thursday when they host Polk State for two at Buccaneers Park beginning at 2 PM. They wrap up their home slate on Saturday when they take on #17 Eastern Florida on Sophomore Day at the park, honoring their eight sophomores playing in their final home games of their FSW careers in a pregame ceremony beginning at 1:50 PM.
