Perfect Week Boosts Bucs to #3 in National Rankings
The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers moved back up one spot in the week six NJCAA National Rankings on Monday, checking in at #3 after a perfect 4-0 week that pushed them past the 30 win mark on the season.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers moved back up one spot in the week six NJCAA National Rankings on Monday, checking in at #3 after a perfect 4-0 week that pushed them past the 30 win mark on the season.
The Bucs moved to 31-5 on the year this week, going 4-0 with Citrus Conference sweeps of Hillsborough and #12 Seminole State. Tuesday against Hillsborough the Bucs put together a dominating effort on the mound as Alexandra Solo threw a perfect game in an 8-0 game one win before Charlotte Graham allowed just one baserunner in another 8-0 win in game two. Saturday the Bucs made the long trip to Sanford and got more lights out pitching in game one of a 3-1 win over #12 Seminole State before breaking out the bats in a 15-3 win in game two to complete the perfect week. With the two wins over #12 Seminole, the Bucs now have 10 wins over ranked opponents this season.
Northeast Alabama climbed into the top spot in the rankings for the first time in program history this week and were followed by Northwest Florida, FSW, Grayson, and McLennan in the top five. Six other Citrus Conference teams joined the Bucs in the rankings including #6 Santa Fe, #9 Indian River, #10 Eastern Florida, #14 Miami Dade, #15 Seminole State and #20 Daytona State.
The Bucs will be back in action on Tuesday when they go on the road to take on #15 Miami Dade in a Citrus Conference doubleheader beginning at 2 PM in Miami.
