Bucs to Be Tested Early, Often in Shortened 2021 Season
The Florida SouthWestern State Women’s Basketball team will know right where they stack up on the NJCAA ladder early on in 2021 as the Bucs released their schedule on Monday, which will pit them against five expected top 25 ranked teams in their first six games of the season.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State Women's Basketball team will know right where they stack up on the NJCAA ladder early on in 2021 as the Bucs released their schedule on Monday, which will pit them against five expected top 25 ranked teams in their first six games of the season.
FSW opens their 2021 campaign on the road in Alabama where they will take on Wallace State on January 22nd before making their way back to the Sunshine State the next day where they battle Chipola in Marianna. Their home opener comes January 29th when they host 2019 National Champions Gulf Coast State in Suncoast Credit Union Arena and one night later they host 2020 FCSAA State Champion Northwest Florida State in a matinee affair. The Bucs wrap up their non-conference slate with a trip North to South Carolina where they will take on Denmark tech on February 4th and perennial power Walters State in Tennessee on February 6th.
As the Bucs venture into Southern Conference play this season, they will open that schedule on February 10th on the road at Palm Beach before playing their home conference opener three days later on February 13th against Indian River. Miami Dade will make up the fourth team in the Southern Conference which the Bucs will take on February 17th, and those four teams will battle each other three times each over the next month to decide a Conference Champion. The Bucs final regular season home game of the year will come on March 24th against Indian River and they close out the regular season as a whole on March 27th at Miami Dade.
The Bucs will look to make their fifth straight trip to the FCSAA State Tournament March 4th-7th in Niceville with the hopes of their third straight invite to the NJCAA National Tournament after that.
FSW Athletics and Bucs Basketball are looking forward to having fans back in Suncoast Credit Union Arena on game days this season. Things will look a little bit different with social distancing and mask regulations present, but the FSW faithful can make plans to be back on campus on January 29th when the Bucs take on Gulf Coast in the Arena.
