Next Level Bucs: Conference Seasons Heating Up For Former Bucs
Turn on ESPN on any given night and you are bound to see a former FSW Buccaneer playing somewhere at the NCAA level. Currently six former Bucs are staring at the Division I level while four more are seeing action at other levels across college basketball.

Tonysha Curry (Stetson) | Curry is putting together another solid campaign in DeLand, averaging 6.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for the Hatters. She has had a couple of big performances for Stetson this season, scoring a season high 16 on 8-9 shooting in a four point win over Bellarmine and put up a combined 21 rebounds in back to back games against UAB and Abilene Christian.
Za'Nautica Downs (UNC-Wilmington) | A fan favorite at FSW, Downs has continued to let it fly as she has moved to the Division I level. Downs is the leading scorer for the Seahawks, putting up 26.3 points per game. She has been on fire of late, scoring in double figures in seven straight games, started by a 32 point performance against South Carolina State and a 23 point effort Saturday against Hofstra.
Shekinah Guthrie (Palm Beach Atlantic) | Unfortunately Guthrie won't get to compete this season after the Sunshine State Conference decided that all sports would be cancelled this year. She will return to Palm Beach Atlantic with two years left to play in the Fall of 2021.
Simone Lett (Georgia Southwestern) | Lett is sitting out this season for Georgia Southwestern and will suit up for the Hurricanes in 2021-22.
Tina Stephens (Kansas) | The Bucs only two-time All-American, Stephens has made FSW proud since her arrival in Lawrence. For the second straight season she is averaging double figures at 11.4 points per game while shooting 55% from the field. She has put up 10 or more points in all but three KU contests including an 18 point performance against Oklahoma in December.
Nairimar Vargas-Reyes (Stony Brook) | Vargas-Reyes has fit in well with the Seawolves, playing in all 12 games and drawing eight straight starts at one point. She is averaging 4.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, scoring in double figures four times including a season high 11 against Syracuse in Stony Brook's second game of the year.
Shondell Vickers (Georgia Southern) | Vickers has been a key contributor for the Eagles, averaging 7.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. She has been a force in the paint, scoring 10 or more points seven times and hauling in 8 or more rebounds seven times as well. Earlier this season she was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week when she put up a 12 point, 15 rebound double-double against South Alabama.
Cherelle Washington (North Carolina Central) | Through her first seven games at the NCAA Division I level, Washington is averaging 6.7 points and 1.5 steals per game. She has scored in double figures three times on the season including an 11 point performance against North Carolina State early in the year.
Niyah White (Young Harris) | After a monster junior season for the Mountain Lions, White is off to another good start to her senior campaign, averaging 12.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest. She has scored in double figures in four of five games this season including a pair of 16 point performances.
Taylor Williams (Christian Brothers) | Williams also had a big junior campaign, but decided to opt out of competition this season. She will have one year of eligibility left starting this fall.
The 2020-2021 version of the Bucs will be back in action next Wednesday when they travel to Lake Worth for their Southern Conference opener against Palm Beach State.
