CHARLOTTE, N.C.- For the first time this season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have entered the top 10 of the NJCAA National Rankings, moving up three spots to #9 this week after a thrilling win over #25 Indian River over the weekend.
The Bucs won both of their games last week after a 21 day layoff, defeating Palm Beach with just six dressed players on Wednesday before returning home full strength to down #25 Indian River to improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in Southern Conference play on the year.
There was lots of movement in this week's poll with conference play heating up around the country and marquee matchups dotting the schedule. A win over #4 Chipola, coupled by a loss from previous #1 Trinity Valley boosted Northwest Florida State into the top spot of this week's rankings. South Georgia Tech moves to #2 while South Plains takes over at #3. Chipola stayed put at #4 while Jones, Trinity Valley, Casper, and Shelton State check in in front of the Bucs at #9 with Gulf Coast State rounding out the top 10.
The Bucs will be road warriors this week as they travel to Miami Dade on Wednesday to take on the Sharks in conference action before heading back out of league play to battle St. Petersburg and Santa Fe Friday and Saturday on the road.
