CHARLOTTE, N.C.- A pair of wins at the FSW Bucs Club Classic over the weekend propelled the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers up three spots to #16 in the NJCAA Week Two National Poll this week.
The Bucs stepped it up on defense last week, allowing just 51 points per game in their two victories to improve to 3-1 on the year. Friday they earned a 75-57 win over Santa Fe at home in Suncoast Credit Union Arena and followed that up with a 57-45 grinding victory over Tallahassee on Saturday.
The top two teams in the poll both hail from the Sunshine State with Northwest Florida at #1 and Chipola at #2 while Jones, Three Rivers, and South Georgia Tech round out the top five. Five Region VIII squads grace the poll this week, the most of any region in the country as joining FSW, Northwest and Chipola are Eastern Florida at #21 and Pensacola at #24.
The Bucs have a light week ahead of them with only a Tuesday battle at Johnson University in Kissimmee on tap.
