CHARLOTTE, N.C.- For the third consecutive week, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were trending upwards in the NJCAA National Rankings released Monday by the National Office. The week four poll saw the Bucs check in at #12, their highest ranking thus far of the 2021-2022 season.
The Bucs won a pair of games on the road last week to improve to 6-1 on the season. Monday they traveled to Daytona where they fought off a pesky DME Academy team 72-53 before putting the hammer down on FSCJ Tuesday in Jacksonville 61-38.
The top four teams in the poll remained the same with Northwest Florida, Chipola, Jones, and Three Rivers using their combined 31-0 record to hold down the top four spots in week four while New Mexico entered the top five for the first time at #5. The 12th ranked Bucs are one of five FCSAA teams in the top 25 this week, joined by the aforementioned Raiders of Northwest Florida and Indians of Chipola at #1 and #2, as well as Pensacola and Gulf Coast at #19 and #24 respectively.
FSW will be tested twice this week, starting on Tuesday when they make the long trek to Gainesville to take on the red hot Santa Fe Saints, winners of five straight, in a 6 PM tip off before returning home to take on Daytona State Friday in Suncoast Arena at 5:30 PM.
