Bucs Remain in Top 25 After Tough Weekend
The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers hung on to a spot in the Top 25 of the NJCAA National Rankings this week, but dropped 12 spots from #11 to #23 after a pair of losses over the weekend.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers hung on to a spot in the Top 25 of the NJCAA National Rankings this week, but dropped 12 spots from #11 to #23 after a pair of losses over the weekend.
The Bucs dropped contests to DME Academy and Gulf Coast State, sandwiched around a win over Odessa on Saturday. FSW came out of the weekend at 8-3 with two games left in the first half of the 2021-2022 season.
There was quite a bit of movement in the week six poll with high level tournaments and conference play beginning around the Nation. Northwest Florida and Chipola held their spots atop the poll while Three Rivers moved up a spot to take the #3 post this week and Trinity Valley jumped three spots to move in front of New Mexico to round out the Top 5. The week six poll was loaded with teams from the Sunshine State as along with Northwest Florida and Chipola at #1 and #2, Pensacola State (#15), Gulf Coast State (#19), FSW (#23), and Eastern Florida State (#24) gave the FCSAA six of the Top 25 in the final rankings of the first semester.
The Bucs will look to get back on track this weekend when they travel to Fort Pierce to take part in the Indian River Classic on the East Coast. FSW will take on Tallahassee Friday followed by a matchup with Santa Fe on Saturday to wrap up the first half of play.
