Brown's Big Weekend Earns Her FCSAA Player of the Week Honors
Averaging nearly a double-double while shooting 79% from the field against a pair of top five ranked opponents, Florida SouthWestern sophomore Ivy Brown has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as announced by the state on Tuesday.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Averaging nearly a double-double while shooting 79% from the field against a pair of top five ranked opponents, Florida SouthWestern sophomore Ivy Brown has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as announced by the state on Tuesday.
Brown had back to back big games for the Bucs, starting with a 15 point, 6 rebound effort in a hard fought five point loss to #2 Northwest Florida on Friday. Brown was 6-8 from the field and also contributed on the defensive end, helping limit one of the Nation's top teams to just 58 points on the afternoon. Saturday she took her game to a different level, scoring 25 points on 9 of 11 shooting and hauling in 13 rebounds and 4 steals in a blowout win for FSW over #5 Gulf Coast State. On the week she averaged 20 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game for the Bucs while shooting a cool 79% from the field.
Brown is the second straight Buc to win the FCSAA Player of the Week award, following in the footsteps of teammate Samantha Serrano who earned the honors in week two.
Brown and the Bucs take on their fourth straight top 10 ranked opponent tonight when they travel to Lake Worth to take on DII #8 Palm Beach State in a 5:30 PM tip before opening Citrus Conference play at home next Monday against St. Petersburg.
