Serrano Nets Second FCSAA Player of the Week Award
For the second time this season Florida SouthWestern freshman Samantha Serrano has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as announced by the State Office Tuesday.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the second time this season Florida SouthWestern freshman Samantha Serrano has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as announced by the State Office Tuesday.
Serrano averaged 20 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for the Bucs last week, leading FSW to their sixth and seventh consecutive wins. Wednesday on the road at FSCJ, Serrano put up 15 points and 7 rebounds in a 67-50 FSW win over the Blue Wave. Saturday she backed it up with a 25 point, 8 rebound effort against Santa Fe, going 7-13 from the field and 6-11 from deep to lead the Bucs over the Saints.
Through 13 games Serrano is the Bucs leading scorer, putting up 17.4 points per game while shooting 47% from the field and 39% from the three point line.
She is the first FSW player to earn multiple FCSAA Player of the Week awards in a season since Tina Stephens during the 2017-2018 campaign.
Serrano and the Bucs are back in action on Wednesday when they wrap up the first half with a date with the Hillsborough Hawks in Tampa.
