Red Hot Bucs Up Three More Spots In National Poll
Winners of 11 straight, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers rose three spots in the first NJCAA National Rankings of the new year on Monday, moving to #15, their highest ranking of the 2024-2025 campaign.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Winners of 11 straight, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers rose three spots in the first NJCAA National Rankings of the new year on Monday, moving to #15, their highest ranking of the 2024-2025 campaign.
The Bucs are 4-0 since the last NJCAA National Poll on December 16th, defeating Hillsborough twice, Miami Dade, and #23 Eastern Florida in overtime to move to 13-3 on the year. The Bucs have four wins this season against Top 25 ranked opponents including a 22 point victory over, now #6 Gulf Coast, the Commodores only loss of the season. Their only three losses of the season have come to Top 15 ranked foes, two to #2 and undefeated Northwest Florida and another to #12 Trinity Valley, the three by a combined 14 points.
With a month between polls, there was some movement this week with Dodge City and New Mexico swapping places at #3 and #4 and Three Rivers entering the top five with Wabash Valley exiting. Four FCSAA squads find themselves in the top 15 with Northwest Florida at #2, Gulf Coast at #6, Chipola at #8, FSW at #15, while Eastern Florida rounds out the pack at #24.
FSW is back in action on Wednesday when they go on the road to take on NJCAA Division II #15 Palm Beach State in Lake Worth before returning home for back to back home games against St. Petersburg and Santa Fe Saturday and next Wednesday in Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
