CHARLOTTE, N.C.- A pair of decisive wins and some chaos in front of them was enough for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to jump up two spots to #15 in the week 10 NJCAA National Rankings released Monday by the National Office.
The Bucs put together a pair of blowout wins last week in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, running past Santa Fe 75-56 on Wednesday and doing the same to Daytona State in a 76-51 win on Saturday. The victories boosted the Bucs to 17-4 on the year and 11-1 in Citrus Conference action where they continue to lead Eastern Florida in the race for the league title.
New Mexico remained the top team in the land while Northwest Florida and Chipola flip flopped spots at #2 and #3. Three Rivers and Dodge City remained pat at #4 and #5 to round out the top five. Gulf Coast joined Northwest Florida and Chipola in the Top 10 at #8 while FSW at #15 and Eastern Florida at #19 gave Florida five teams in the Top 20 in week 10.
The Bucs are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Melbourne to take on #19 Eastern Florida in a huge Citrus Conference matchup. A win for FSW would put them in the driver's seat for the Conference Championship while an Eastern win would deadlock the two at the top with five games left to go.
