FSW Sophomore Spotlight- Georgi Buzzetti- North Florida
After wrapping up a three year career with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, Georgi Buzzetti will be moving on to the Division I level, but won't be going too far as she will remain in the Sunshine State, signing to play next season at the University of North Florida.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- After wrapping up a three year career with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, Georgi Buzzetti will be moving on to the Division I level, but won't be going too far as she will remain in the Sunshine State, signing to play next season at the University of North Florida.
Buzzetti was a 1st Team All-Citrus Conference selection for the Bucs this season, averaging 9.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while shooting 45% from the field as a sophomore. She started all 31 games for the Bucs in the paint, ranking 5th in the state with her 9.2 rebounds per game. She led the Bucs to a Citrus Conference Championship during the regular season and keyed the Bucs run to the NJCAA National Tournament, earning FCSAA All-Tournament Team honors averaging 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in FSW's stay in Niceville.
Buzzetti will look to help turn around a North Florida program that finished just 5-26 a season ago and struggled to a 1-17 record in Atlantic Sun action.
Buzzetti is one of five Bucs to sign at the NCAA Division I level this season and one of six overall to sign at the next level joining Ivy Brown (UTRGV), Sarah Owona (UT-Chattanooga), Samantha Serrano (Illinois-Chicago), Asiana Britt (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi), Roksana Sajdak (LSU-Alexandria).
