FSW Sophomore Spotlight- Ivy Brown- UTRGV
Following an All-Conference sophomore campaign, Florida SouthWestern forward Ivy Brown is headed to the Lone Star State after signing with the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley for next season.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- Following an All-Conference sophomore campaign, Florida SouthWestern forward Ivy Brown is headed to the Lone Star State after signing with the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley for next season.
Brown started all 31 games for the Bucs this season, averaging 10.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game to earn 2nd Team All-Citrus Conference honors. Brown shot 56% from the field for the Bucs to lead the team and wraps up her FSW career as a 55.9% shooter which is second best in Buccaneer history. She had six double-doubles on the season including a 19 point, 17 rebound performance in a win over Daytona State and a career high 25 point, 13 rebound effort in a Bucs upset victory over #5 Gulf Coast State early in the year.
Brown led FSW to a 25-6 record as a sophomore this season, helping the Bucs to their first Citrus Conference Championship and a trip to he NJCAA National Tournament where they reached the Sweet 16.
She joins a UTRGV squad that finished an even 16-16 this year and was in the middle of the pack in the Southland Conference standings at 11-9.
Brown is one of five Bucs to sign at the NCAA Division I level this season and one of six overall to sign at a four year school joining Sarah Owona, (UT-Chattanooga), Georgi Buzzetti (North Florida), Samantha Serrano (Illinois-Chicago), Asiana Britt (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi), Roksana Sajdak (LSU-Alexandria).
