NICEVILLE, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers found themselves on the wrong side of a lopsided final score on Friday as they fell 72-38 to #3 Northwest Florida as the Raiders avenged their only loss of the year to FSW earlier this season.
As they did for 40 minutes the first time the two teams met this year, the Bucs played right with the defending National Champs early on, taking a 7-6 lead midway throught he first quarter. However this time things went South in a hurry as FSW managed just two points over the final five minutes of the quarter as the Raiders went on a 12-2 run to close the period and take an 18-9 lead after one.
Threes from Kiara Harris and Rannon Suttle got the Bucs back in it early in the second quarter and two more triples, this time from Harris and Damia Worthy cut it back to a seven point game at 28-21 in favor of the Raiders. The good news for the Bucs was they made five threes in the second quarter, the bad news for the Bucs was they didn't get another field goal and didn't make a free throw as Northwest Florida went to the break leading it 32-24.
The second half started like a nightmare for the Bucs as they turned it over five times and missed their first nine shots as Northwest Florida opened up a 47-24 advantage. They finally got on the board at the 2:47 mark but they were outscored by 10 in the quarter and trailed 51-33 at the end of three.
The fourth quarter wasn't any better for the Purple and Aqua as they only managed one field goal through the first eight minutes of the period, watching their deficit grow to 70-35. The Bucs would finish the quarter with just five points, eventually falling 72-38.
The Bucs 38 points tied for the second least in a game in program history. Harris was the only Buc to reach double figures as she finished with 12. FSW was hampered once again by turnovers as they coughed it up 23 times against the Raiders while forcing just 7 Northwest turnovers.
FSW falls to 6-5 on the year while Northwest improves to 10-1.
The Bucs will be back in action Saturday looking for some revenge of their own as they take on D2 #13 Chattahoochee Valley who clipped FSW 56-53 on opening day of the 2025-2026 season.
