CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Earning two more wins, including one against #13 Hillsborough on the road on Saturday, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers remained the #2 ranked team in the land on Monday as the NJCAA released its weekly National Rankings.
FSW earned a pair of road victories last week, first sweeping Indian River on Thursday in a dominating effort, before shaking off a slow start against #13 Hillsborough to down the Hawks 3-1 to improve to 17-1 on the year. The Bucs remain the lone one loss team in the country as the regular season hits its final stretch and with their win over Hillsborough Saturday, FSW now has nine wins over Top 15 ranked teams.
The week eight poll had some major shifting after the Top 5, but Salt Lake, FSW, Indian Hills, Miami Dade, and Western Nebraska held their spots at the top and Trinity Valley and New Mexico making their entries into the Top 10 at #9 and #10 respectively. The FCSAA continued to be well represented in the poll as FSW came in at #2 and Miami Dade at #4, with Daytona State and Hillsborough at #16 and #17 and Eastern Florida receiving votes for the first time this season.
The Bucs will be back in action in Fort Myers in a pair of big games this week as they take on Eastern Florida State Thursday at 6:00 at Florida Gulf Coast University followed by a 3:00 matinee against #4 Miami Dade at Bishop Verot High School on Saturday. Both games will be free to the public to attend.
