CHARLOTTE, N.C.- After a two week hiatus from the top of the NJCAA National Rankings, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are back in the #1 spot as the NJCAA released their week nine poll with FSW reclaiming the top spot in the land as the regular season begins to wind down.
The Bucs had a big week in their return to Fort Myers after almost a month away, sweeping Eastern Florida State on Thursday before beating #4 Miami Dade 3-0 Saturday in a showdown for first place in the Suncoast Conference standings. FSW is now 19-1 on the year and 11-1 in conference play and with their win over the Sharks Saturday, the Bucs have 10 wins against Top 15 ranked teams in 2022.
There were lots of subtle movements in the week nine poll with a shuffle in the Top 5 with FSW taking over the #1 spot, Indian Hills sliding up to #2, Salt Lake dropping to #3 and Western Nebraska and Central Wyoming both moving up to round out the Top 5. Three other FCSAA squads were in the Top 20 with Miami Dade dropping two spots to #6 and Daytona State and Hillsborough moving up a spot each to #15 and #16 respectively.
With the #1 nod, FSW has now been ranked #1 in 14 of the past 16 NJCAA regular season polls.
The Bucs are back in action with their 12th match against a ranked opponent this season on Tuesday as they travel to Miami to take on #6 Miami Dade in the back end of a home and home with the Sharks. FSW wraps up the regular season Thursday on Sophomore Night when they host Polk State at 6:00 at FGCU's Alico Arena.
