Brandalise Goes Back to Back With FCSAA Setter of the Week Award
For the second straight week, Florida SouthWestern setter Camilla Brandalise has been named the FCSAA Setter of the Week as announced by the state office Tuesday.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the second straight week, Florida SouthWestern setter Camilla Brandalise has been named the FCSAA Setter of the Week as announced by the state office Tuesday.
Brandalise led FSW to four wins including three over Top 20 ranked opponents on the week. Friday she guided the Bucs to a 3-1 victory over #12 New Mexico Military, dishing out 48 assists while also contributing on the defensive end with 5 blocks and 9 digs. Later in the day she recharged the battery and posted a 27 assist, 12 dig double-double for the Bucs in a 3-0 sweep of #3 Northeastern. Saturday she was back at it again, notching a career high 53 assists in a 3-1 win over Laramie County. The 53 helpers were the second most in a four set match in program history, behind only 2023 National Player of the Year Roberta Purashaj's 60 against Trinity Valley last season. Overall on the week the sophomore averaged 10.2 assists per set while also adding 2.2 digs and 0.7 blocks per set.
Brandalise has been outstanding for the Bucs to start the 2024 season, leading the Citrus Conference and ranking in the Top 10 Nationally averaging 9.54 assists per set while quarterbacking the Bucs to a .292 team hitting percentage which is tops in the state and 4th Nationally.
For the second straight week Brandalise was joined on the award winners list by a teammate as Nina Boledovicova was named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week.
Brandalise and the Bucs are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Bradenton to take on New College of Florida in exhibition action. They then turn their attention to Citrus Conference play which begins September 11th when they go to Tampa to take on Hillsborough.
