FORT MYERS, Fla.- We continue our FSW Sophomore Spotlight today with two time NJCAA National Champion Bucs Volleyball player Camilla Brandalise who is headed to the ACC to play at Virginia Tech next season.
Brandalise was the backbone of the Nation's top offense this season as the Bucs hit an NJCAA best .322 as a team off of her hands while hammering down 13.48 kills per set as a team. She was a 2nd Team All-Citrus Conference selection, leading the league with 8.32 assists per set on the year. She was a five time FCSAA Setter of the Week award winner as a sophomore and was named to both the Battle at the Beach All-Tournament Team and the FCSAA Championships All-Tournament Team. She topped the 30 assist mark seven times this season including tying a program record with 60 against rival Miami Dade midway through the year. Her 699 total assists as a sophomore rank 5th in FSW single season history while her 847 career assists are 3rd best.
It's not just individual success that Brandalise will bring to the table for the Hokies though as in her two seasons in Fort Myers Brandalise led FSW to a 57-2 record, winning as many NJCAA National Championships as matches she lost, while also capturing two Citrus Conference and FCSAA Championship titles.
Brandalise will try to help get things going in Blacksburg as Virginia Tech finished just 7-23 a season ago and 1-19 in the ACC and will be looking for their first winning season since 2015 when she dons the Maroon and Orange next season. She is the first FSW player to sign with an ACC program.
Brandalise is one of eight Buccaneer sophomores to sign at the next level for 2025 including one of six at the NCAA Division I level. She is joined by Nina Boledovicova (Virginia Commonwealth), Julija Grubisic Cabo & Abby Toeniskoetter (Florida Gulf Coast), Anna Marzella (Southern Utah), Nele Broszat (Cal State Bakersfield), Clara Maidantchik (Lynn), and Sofia Augusto (Palm Beach Atlantic).
