CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Following a perfect 4-0 weekend that included a sweep of previously ranked #2 Weatherford, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers moved up one spot in the week two NJCAA National Rankings, claiming the #2 spot from the Coyotes as they head into Citrus Conference play this week.
The Bucs moved to 11-1 on the year with four wins over the weekend at the Eastern Florida Titan Invitational in Melbourne. The highlight of the weekend came on Friday when then, #3 FSW took on #2 Weatherford, but it wasn't the showdown that fans expected as the Bucs blew past the Coyotes in a 3-0 sweep to all but insure a position swap in this week's poll. With the victory, FSW now has three wins over Top 10 ranked opponents this season, all coming in sweeps.
With a number of ranked vs. ranked matchups last week, there was some shuffling in the week two poll. Miami Dade remained in the #1 spot with FSW moving up one to #2, Barton sliding up two spots to #3, Weatherford dropping down two to #4, and Northeastern making a 10 spot jump to #5 to round out the Top 5. Amarillo makes their first appearance in program history in a National Ranking at #20 while Navarro dropped out of the rankings after an 0-4 weekend.
Having closed out non-conference action, FSW now turns their attention to Citrus Conference play where they look to get off to a hot start in pursuit of their sixth straight Conference Championship. The Bucs title defense begins on Saturday when they host Hillsborough at 2 PM in Suncoast Arena in both team's conference opener.
