Bucs All-American Signs With Owls
After an All-American sophomore season for the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers, outside hitter Sara Gamboa will be heading to the East Coast of the Sunshine State next year after signing with Florida Atlantic University.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- After an All-American sophomore season for the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers, outside hitter Sara Gamboa will be heading to the East Coast of the Sunshine State next year after signing with Florida Atlantic University.
Gamboa was a consensus 2nd Team All-American this season, earning that distinction from both the NJCAA and the AVCA. It is the second straight season she earned All-American honors after picking both up as well during her freshman season at Trinity Valley. She finished 6th in the country this season with 3.85 kills per set while attacking at a .258 clip on the year. She had 11 matches of 15 or more kills including three straight at the NJCAA National Tournament to pick up All-Tournament Team honors for the Bucs.
Gamboa helped lead the Bucs to a 27-4 record in 2025 with FSW finishing as runners-up in both the Citrus Conference and at the NJCAA National Tournament.
She heads to Boca Raton to play for the Owls next season where she will join a Florida Atlantic squad coming off of a 19-11 campaign that included a 5th place finish in the American where they went 10-6.
Gamboa is one of five Bucs to sign during the early period, joining Patrycja Labucka (South Dakota State), Dinara Sabitova (Florida Gulf Coast), Sara Gasparini (Morgan State), and Sarah Webb (Eckerd).
