Lucic Headed to the Big Apple
Aleksandra Lucic made the most of her only season with the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers in 2025, earning 1st Team All-Conference and 3rd Team All-American honors while helping lead the Bucs to their fourth straight National Championship Game appearance. Now she will be taking her talents to New York after signing with Mercy College to continue her academic and playing career.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- Aleksandra Lucic made the most of her only season with the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers in 2025, earning 1st Team All-Conference and 3rd Team All-American honors while helping lead the Bucs to their fourth straight National Championship Game appearance. Now she will be taking her talents to New York after signing with Mercy College to continue her academic and playing career.
Lucic was as advertised for the Bucs this season, leading the Citrus Conference with a .397 hitting percentage while finishing third in the league with 1.14 blocks per set. She was a 1st Team All-Citrus Conference and 1st Team All-FCSAA selection while also earning 3rd Team NJCAA All-American accolades. She had 12 matches with 8 or more kills this season while also registering 5 or more blocks 12 times. She came up big in the postseason, combining for 15 kills and 0 errors in the Bucs District Championship win over USC Sumter and their National Tournament opener against Mineral Area and followed that up with 8 kills and 5 blocks and then 9 kills and 8 blocks in FSW's quarterfinal and semifinal wins over Trinity Valley and Weatherford.
She will join a Mercy program coming off of a 22-5 campaign that included both East Coast Conference regular season and tournament Championships. They advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament where they won a pair of contests before falling to Bentley in the East Region Final.
Lucic is one of nine Bucs to sign at the next level this season, joining Sara Gamboa (Florida Atlantic), Patrycja Labucka (South Dakota State), Dinara Sabitova (Florida Gulf Coast), Giovanna Rocha (South Florida-Beach), Magi Milicevic (Binghamton), Sara Gasparini (Morgan State), Sarah Webb & Irina Makinen (Eckerd).
