FORT MYERS, Fla.- Following a perfect 19-0 conference season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers filled up the Suncoast Conference All-Conference teams announced on Thursday. 13 Bucs were honored including Feline Poot who was named the Player of the Year, Alyssa O'Donnell who was named the Pitcher of the Year, and for the fourth time Robert Iamurri was named the Coach of the Year. 

 

Poot led the 13 Bucs named to the teams as she was a unanimous selection for the league's Player of the Year, the third straight FSW player to receive the honor.  She hit .362 with a league high seven home runs and 21 RBIs while also going 9 for 10 in stolen base attempts. 

 

O'Donnell was an easy choice for the coaches for the 2021 Suncoast Conference Pitcher of the Year. She finished a perfect 9-0 in conference play, allowing just seven earned runs in 47 innings pitched, good for a 1.04 ERA.  She struck out 38 and walked just nine while holding opposing hitters to just a .185 batting average.  

 

Joining Poot on the 1st Team infield was FSW middle infield duo Rebeca Laudino and Lindsey Corbin, both two time 1st Team All-Conference selections.  Laudino was all over the bases during Suncoast Conference play, hitting .559 with a league high 33 hits and 28 runs scored while also going 19 for 20 in stolen base attempts. Corbin was solid once again for the Bucs, hitting .465 in league play while hammering five home runs and driving in 23 in 14 contests.  

 

Bucs backstop Taylor Jensen was also a 1st Team All-Conference selection, leading the league in slugging by almost 100 points in 16 conference games.  She finished the year with a .565/.623/.978 slash line while ripping four doubles and five home runs, while driving in 21.  

 

Two of the three outfielders on the 1st Team wore Purple and Aqua this season.  Janessa Plummer led the Suncoast Conference with a .578 batting average during conference play and was automatic on the basepaths, going a perfect 9 for 9 in stolen base attempts.  With her 1st Team selection, Shanika Klett has one of the most feel good stories of any of the All-Conference picks, earning the award for the second time, but three years separated from her first (2018).  In her first full season back from injury, Klett hit .528 in conference play, ripping four doubles and a home run while driving in 12 in 13 games. 

 

The seventh 1st Team All-Conference pic for FSW was designated player Chelsea Brown.  In her first season in Fort Myers, Brown hit .410 in conference play, leading the league with seven doubles while also cracking four home runs and driving in 19.  

 

The 2nd Team was also well stocked with Buccaneers. 

 

A pair of FSW righthanders led the 2nd Team pitching staff. Sarah Clontz was 5-0 with a 1.86 ERA in conference play for the Bucs, logging 26 1/3 innings while striking out 24 in 11 appearances both as a starter and a reliever.  Emily Perrin was 7-2 in 14 appearances during the regular season, striking out a team high 9.71 batters per seven innings in 49 innings pitched on the year.  

 

Catcher Charlotte Drijvers was a 2nd Team pick after hitting .365 with six doubles and 20 RBIs during the regular season while also scoring 31 runs in 39 games played.  

 

Rounding out the group for the Bucs was Owen Bowers who earned 2nd Team honors after hitting .440 in 18 conference games for the Bucs. She finished with 12 RBIs and went a perfect 5 for 5 in stolen base attempts.  

 

Leading the Bucs to their fifth straight Suncoast Conference Championship, Iamurri earned yet another Coach of the Year award at the helm for FSW.  The Bucs posted a perfect 19-0 record in conference action while going 40-3 overall during the regular season to earn a #1 National Ranking for the final four weeks of the season.  

 

The Bucs will begin their postseason run on Friday in Longwood when they take on Miami Dade in the first game of the FCSAA State Tournament at 10 AM from Soldier's Creek Park.
